7 Things We Wish Clients Would Do
From basic manners to things that may not have occurred to them before, these things are probably just a fraction of a list of instructions that we believe should be mandatory for your massage clinic.
1. Give notice of cancellation
24 hours of it at least. There’s nothing worse than a last minute cancellation… except maybe a no-show. That’s worse.
2. Leave the kids at home
This is a tricky one and requires some degree of foresight. While many clinics are child-friendly, if clients know their children tend to run rampant, you would hope they show up child-free. After all, how are they going to relax into their treatment if little Johnny is pottering around sticking his fingers in electrical sockets?!
3. Dress appropriately
Leave the fine silk cami knickers in the draw, it’s a massage, there’s gonna be oil. But that doesn’t mean go commando either!
4. Plan ahead
Booking in that last-minute appointment around Valentine’s Day or Christmas? Well it turns out every other client had the same idea. Clients should book as soon as possible, especially pre-holidays or big events in order to save you turning them away.
5. Be realistic
Clients have to realise that, whilst fabulously talented at what you do, you are not a miracle worker. A single one hour massage is probably not going to cure that chronic neck/knee/back condition your client has been battling for the last 5 years.
6. Be on time
This seems obvious, but clients probably don’t even realise the chaos they throw your schedule into when they arrive with varying degrees of lateness and push everything back in the process. It’s probably high on the wish list of all therapists that their clients would be punctual, and the one’s that actually do keep this golden rule expect the same from you in return.
7. Avoid strong smells
Whether it’s BO, stinky feet or bathed in perfume, aftershave or overpowering deodorant, neither end of the scent spectrum makes for a pleasant experience in a confined treatment room.
Which of these guidelines, or a vast array of others, do you wish your clients would follow?
